Commission Prayer

Commission prayer

Recently I was meditating on Isaiah 61:1-3.  While this is speaking of Jesus and fulfilled in Him (Luke 4:18, 19), it also is His promise and commission for us as His disciples (Mark 16:15-18).  I pondered what would happen if every Christian prayed this prayer and walked it out every day?  It would turn the world upside down! (Acts 17:6)

Try it today!

The Spirit of the Lord is upon mepause and reflect, feel the Spirit of God on you and in you.

Because the Lord has anointed mefeel His anointing, let it wash over you.  Don’t be in a hurry!

To preach good tidings to the poorwho can you share good news with today?

He has sent me to heal the brokenheartedknow anyone you can cheer with a good word from the Healer?  Text an encouraging thought – you never know the impact it might have – and it’s what you were created for!

To proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are boundwho do you know who is held captive and not walking in the fullness God has for them?  Or maybe you will encounter someone – ask the Lord to open your eyes to see who He has on your path today.

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God.  God sets before us blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience (Deuteronomy 28).  First search your own heart if you are walking in obedience.  Then is there someone who needs to hear a word of life so that they don’t take the path to destruction?

To comfort those who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion The Comforter lives within you!  Who needs His comforting presence?

To give them beauty for ashes – Can you see through Jesus’ eye’s the hurting and broken and see the beauty He desires for them and call it forth?

The oil of joy for mourningYou are a joy bringer!  Share it today!

The garment of praise for the spirit of heavinessLook for those weighed down today – how can you share the garment of praise?  Does it reflect on your countenance?

That they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

He is glorified as you touch lives today for eternity!
