Salvation Prayer, Part 1

When I was asking the Lord about what to blog this week, I heard “salvation prayer”.  Seems funny to be on blog #149 on different ways to pray and finally getting to prayer for salvation!  Maybe it was so obvious, I overlooked it.  This would be the first prayer many people pray.

Important parts include:

  1. Confession of Jesus as Lord and Savior
  2. Repentance of sin and receiving forgiveness and new life in Jesus
  3. Grace to walk out life in the Spirit.

Many these days just look for a confession that they believe in Jesus, but even the “demons believe and tremble.” James 2:19 It’s so much more! Repentance is key. It’s also not about just getting “a ticket to heaven” but the start of a new relationship, a new life.

Here’s a sample prayer from

Dear Jesus,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent.  I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.

Who do you know that needs to say a prayer like this?  Ask the Lord to show you 2-3 people you can be praying for an opportunity to share Jesus and this prayer!
